The topics I have outlined below are things that I am passionate in communicating to people and most have a personal or family relevance:-

Mobile phones

Although I am realistic in that I know that very few people are going to choose not to use a mobile phone but there are a few things that can be done to minimise their effects:-

  • Turn them off overnight as there is a connection to the base station every minute and this can interfere with our brain waves
  • Avoid using them in moving vehicles as they have to emit a stronger signal as they move from one base station to the next
  • Minimise your use of them if you have metal in your mouth as I have read studies where that increases the effect of the radiation by several times
  • Minimise your use of them if you have metal earrings or metal framed glasses

Mercury fillings

Although I would recommend everyone replace their fillings with either porcelain or white composite (ie non metal) I know not everyone is going to be able to afford it but I believe everyone should know the folowing information:-

  • It is a scientific fact that if there is an additional metal in the mouth it causes more mercury to leech out from the fillings than if there is just mercury alone
  • As linings were often not used underneath the mercury fillings, many of the teeth have decay underneath the fillings
  • It is not true that it causes more problems to remove the fillings than to keep them in – dentists are burying their heads in the sand about the long term health problems mercury is causing

Sugar or diet drinks/sugar free products

Although it is a very clever marketing name diet drinks are not better for you than normal fizzy drinks and definitely do not assist you in losing weight

  • Sugar is not great for us and is addictive – it is worth reading the book The Sugar Blues to see whether you may be addicted but it is much better for us than anything artificial
  • Diet drinks normally contain artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and it is worth you finding out about the toxic effects of aspartame and other sweeteners
  • I have had some clients who have lost weight as a result of simply cutting out all diet drinks and replacing them with water
  • As artificial sweeteners are toxic to the body – could this be a contributory factor as to why many women are now storing excess fat around the middle?

Hydrogenated vegetable oils/fats

These are known to be bad for our body yet so many supermarkets add them to their ready made products

  • Check all savoury ready made meals and avoid buying any with these fats or oils
  • Check all cakes, biscuits and sweets and avoid buying any which list ingredients including hydrogenated fats or oils
  • Write to your local supermarket asking them to remove this kind of fat


Although there are occasions where taking an antibiotic is absolutely essential, there are side effects:-

  • The full course needs to be taken even after the symptoms of the infection have disappeared
  • They can often cause thrush which needs balancing by probiotics or friendly bacteria
  • For very young children they can affect the enamel in teeth in the gums causing them to come down with imperfections


I absolutely believe that we should do all we can to avoid fluoridation in our water:-

  • I believe that too much fluoride damages teeth and have read much evidence to support this
  • I choose to use non-fluoridated toothpaste
  • Brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste before bed often causes you to need the toilet during the night!
